Version 1.1a · Last updated:

In short. Southside Digital is a business name of Ashton Pooley (ABN 73 828 928 325), based in Adelaide, South Australia. I collect only what I need to reply to you and do the work you ask for. I don't sell your information. Some tools I use store data overseas, mainly in the United States. You can ask to see or correct your information at any time by emailing hello@southsidedigital.com.

What I collect

  • When you contact me or book a call: your name, email, phone (if you give it), business name, website, suburb, how you found me, and anything you write.
  • If you become a client: billing details, project content, and the access I need to manage your website or Google listing. I ask to be added as a manager or user rather than for your passwords, and I never ask for passwords by email or form. Card payments are handled by Stripe; I don't see your full card number.
  • When you visit this site: usage information through Google Analytics (pages viewed, device type, approximate location), which uses cookies.
  • If I've written to you about your business: your business name, address, phone, website and Google listing details as your business publishes them. I sometimes start from a list of public business listings collected by a tool, and I check every detail on your live Google listing before I write. If I email you, it's only to an address your business publishes, and I note where I found it.
  • If you ask me not to contact you: your business name and contact details go on a do-not-contact list, so I don't contact you again.

Why I use it

To reply to you, prepare proposals, deliver and support my services, send invoices, improve this website and meet my legal obligations. I'll only send marketing emails if you've agreed or the law otherwise allows it, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Don't want to hear from me?

Text "no thanks" to 0466 035 035 or email hello@southsidedigital.com and I'll stop contacting you the same day.

Who I share it with

Only the service providers that help me run the business:

  • My hosting provider's server in Sydney, Australia, which runs this website and its contact form and keeps short-term technical logs
  • Jotform, for e-signatures and the client intake form (United States)
  • Google, for email through Gmail (Google Workspace), Analytics and website fonts (United States and other countries)
  • Cal.com, a booking service, when you book a call (it may store data outside Australia, including in the United States)
  • Stripe, for payments, when you pay by card
  • Anthropic, the maker of the AI tool I use (United States)
  • My accounting software provider
  • Contractors working on your project (for example a logo designer), who get only what they need

I use AI tools (currently Claude, by Anthropic, in the United States) to help draft copy and build websites. I share only what a task needs, and never passwords or payment details. I don't sell or rent personal information. I'll disclose it only where the law requires.

Overseas

Because some of these providers are overseas, some of your information is likely to be stored in the United States.

Cookies and analytics

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use Google's opt-out add-on. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

Security and how long I keep it

I take reasonable steps to protect your information. Enquiries from people who don't become clients are deleted after 2 years. Business details I collect for a check but don't use are deleted within 12 months. Client and billing records are kept for as long as the law requires (generally 5 years for tax). Do-not-contact entries are kept so I can keep honouring them.

Access, correction and complaints

Email hello@southsidedigital.com and I'll respond within 30 days. If you're not happy with my response, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

Automated decisions

I don't make significant decisions about you by automated means.

I'll update this page when anything changes and show the date above.
